Proverbia at
Walk In PDX

I had the pleasure of attending the Proverbia opening reception at Walk In in Portland, OR this past week. Mexican artists Francisco Morales, Oliver Casillas & Lisa Saldivar were exhibiting artwork around Mexican proverbs. Each artist took the subject in their own direction and style. Even with each artists range, the exhibition as a whole felt very cohesive with each piece working in tendem with the others. Lisa's paintings were gorgeous with a messy style with subjects like the devil & fields of cati while Oliver's were quite a bit more refined and rigid with his line work that focused on Mexican cowboys with a lot of pastel colors. Francisco, with a background in design, displayed posters with acid trip like colors representing something that felt like a hazy Mexican dream in a far off universe. Republica PDX offered a mezcal tasting which was delicious and smokey. It was an incredibly energetic night and honestly, just feels good to go to art shows again after the long years of the pandemic. Enjoy the photographs 🫶🏽
